A little catching up to do!

So - I have a little catching up to do if I'm going to chronicle a year of Lansdale shopping:

January 1 - Happy New Year!  No shopping or eating out.

January 2 - Not a good start!  We wanted wings and sandwiches for dinner.  Like most families, there are favorite pizza joints.  But it was not my turn to pick.  So the wings and sandwiches came from Giuseppe's Pizza & Family Restaurant in Hatfield.  But I can guarantee that when it is my turn, it will be a local, Lansdale place!

January 3 - Our first dinner out in the New Year.  And it's not in the borough.  We had dinner at the Red Cedar Grill in Colmar.  Yes, we could have eaten in Lansdale, but decided we wanted to go somewhere to get a full-service menu with a cocktail.  The borough has some fine BYOB restaurants, and some limited-menu taverns with liquor licenses - but is lacking that full-service establishment.  Let's hope the Stove and Tap opens soon!

January 4 - It's supermarket time.  Uh, oh.  This is a tough one.  We have to go outside the borough as we no longer have a supermarket in town since Super Food Town on South Broad closed its doors.   All of our surrounding communities - Towamencin Township, Hatfield Township, Upper Gwynedd Township, Montgomery Township - have supermarkets.  When Clemens/Super Fresh left, then Vidalia/Super Food Town couldn't make a go of it, we were forced outside the borough for food shopping.

I did stop and do some banking at the Merck Sharp and Dohme Federal Credit Union on South Broad.  Great customer service and a nice, small town banking feel.  I don't work for Merck, but you'd be surprised at how many companies are eligible to bank there.  Click Here for a list.  Or get your company to enroll!

January 5 - I'm low on oil and don't have any in the garage.  A quick trip to National Auto Stores on Main Street solved that.  Been in there lately?  They have rearranged the store, and it looks huge!  Very friendly, competent and fast service.

While I'm there, I stop in for pretzels at the Philly Pretzel Factory across the street.  four pretzels for two bucks.  Bargain!  No - I did not eat them all myself.

I'm on my own for dinner - which means I can eat whatever I want.  Being the only sushi lover at home, it's my night for some great take-out from Izu Sushi on Main Street.  Great food, fast and friendly service.  An under-patronized restaurant in town you should definitely check out!

So - that gets me up to date.  You'll be seeing my posts daily - the day after my shopping is done.
